Setting Up an Email Account with Microsoft Outlook Express

This page goes through the steps required to set-up an email account using Microsoft Outlook Express.

***** These are only examples and you should use your email address that we provided to you.

To start, open Outlook Express and click on the Tools menu, followed by Accounts.
 

 

Internet Accounts
This will take you to the next screen as seen below. First, click on the Mail Tab shown. Click on Add and then Mail in the right corner.
 

 
Your Name
Simply add your name or business name here and click on the Next button.
 

 

Internet E-mail Address
Please enter in your full email address. It will usually be “sales@yourbusiness.com”
 

 

E-mail Server Names
Now you will to need enter the POP3 and SMTP servers as below. The incoming mail server should be set to a 'POP3 server'. Both the Incoming and Outgoing mail servers will be mail.yourdomain.com
 

 

Internet Mail Logon
For the Account name you should enter your full email address and the Password you have chosen.
 

 

FINISH WIZARD
You should now see this screen to confirm that your email account has been successfully set-up.
 

 
TO FINISH SETTING UP YOUR EMAIL
Click on Tools and then Accounts.
 

 

Then, Click the Mail Tab, click your account (usually mail.yourdomain.com), and then click properties.
 

 

A new window will pop up. The GENERAL tab will be opened. Change the First Line, under Mail Account, to your full email address. In addition, make sure the box at the bottom that reads “Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing” IS Checked.
 

 

Then go to the next tab, labeled SERVERS. At the bottom of the window, make sure the box that reads “My server requires authentication” is checked. Also, Be sure the box that reads “Remember Password” is checked. Next, make sure that the box that reads “Log on using Secure Password Authentication” is NOT checked. At the bottom right of the page, click APPLY and then click OK. You have successfully completed the setup of your email.
